The Strategic Initiative Leads use EPA’s Puget Sound Geographic Program funds to achieve recovery under the National Estuary Program. As the second-largest estuary in the United States, Puget Sound is a complex ecosystem that embodies a spectacular physical, social, cultural, and economic mosaic. Why SIAT?

The SIATs were developed in 2016 to guide the work of the Strategic Initiative Leads. This includes developing investment priorities and funding recommendations, guiding Implementation Strategy development, and advising SILs in operationalizing recovery approaches.

Stormwater SIAT member testimonials

"I am a founding member on the Stormwater Strategic Initiative Advisory Team and have had the opportunity to share my expertise and learn from the diverse membership.  I have been able to share my 30+ years of expertise in stormwater quality, management, source control and treatment and learn new perspectives from Tribal communities, Regulators (Growth Management Act, State, Tribal, Federal and local) and community groups. As part of the SIAT, we were able to influence the distribution of stormwater funding where there is a need and where there is a greater benefit. I recommend other stormwater professionals to participate on the Stormwater SIAT”.

"I’ve served on Stormwater Strategic Initiative Advisory Team for many years. It’s been a great opportunity to share how land use planning can positively affect stormwater and has led to greater appreciation for how cross disciplinary approaches can be so effective. It’s also a convivial, supporting community of practice I appreciate on a personal basis".
