The Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference, April 4-6 2018, is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest work researching and managing the Salish Sea Ecosystem.

The Strategic Initiative Leads and partners developing Implementation Strategies are contributing in a number of ways to this event. Check out what we are doing below and stop by to say hello:

  • Libby Gier (Habitat SI) is hosting a session on Building resilient floodplains through regional policy, community driven solutions and science. Thursday, April 5 from 3:30-5:00 pm
  • Kirsten Feifel (Habitat SI) is co-hosting a session on Restoration and protection today for an uncertain tomorrow: climate change in practice. Thursday, April 5 from 10:00 -11:30 am
  • Julie Watson (Habitat SI) is facilitating an open session on Strategic Recovery Part II: Workshop leveraging the recovery community to tackle key challenges. Come and participate to identify your next steps towards Puget Sound and Salish Sea recovery. Friday, April 6 from 1:30-3:00 pm
  • Dustin Bilhimer (Marine Water Quality Implementation Strategy Lead) is hosting one of three sessions related to the Marine Water Quality IS and Ecology’s Nutrient Reduction Project. The three sessions are:
    • Understanding the Salish Sea Model and it’s application for Puget Sound recovery. Wednesday, April 4, 1:30-3:30 pm
    • Long-term monitoring of Salish Sea Ecosystems (4 related sessions). Thursday, April 4 1:30-3:30 pm & 3:00-5:00 pm; Friday, April 6 8:30-10:00 am & 10:30 am -12:00pm
    • Policy and management issues for restoring and protecting water quality in the Salish Sea (hosted by Dustin). Thursday, April 5, 1:30-3:00 pm
  • Heidi Siegelbaum (Stormwater SI) is presenting in the session Communication Tools to Accelerate Success. Thursday, April 5, 3:30-5:00 pm
  • Jennifer Griffiths (Habitat SI) is presenting a poster on Shoreline Armoring Implementation Strategy: A regional strategy to support and align actions from local to regional scales. Stop by to learn about the strategy, where you fit in, and to identify a small step you can take to support its implementation.
