The new issue of Making Waves, the Puget Sound Partnership’s online magazine, features updates from the Shellfish, Stormwater, and Habitat Strategic Initiatives for Puget Sound recovery.

From dairy farms to shellfish beds, working forests to kelp forests, and from riversides to roadsides, the health of Puget Sound is interconnected with the communities where we live and work throughout the watershed. The National Estuary Program is fostering a wide range of actions to protect and restore our shared lands and waters, targeting the three core Strategic Initiatives set out by the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council as critical for recovery.

In the latest issue of the Partnership’s Making Waves magazine, catch up with each of our Strategic Initiative Leads about newly awarded projects – and upcoming funding opportunities:

Stormwater Strategic Initiative: Transportation retrofit projects help local communities target the most important areas for stormwater pollution and salmon recovery.

Shellfish Strategic Initiative: Tools for local and tribal governments, farmers, and property owners protect shellfish harvests and public health by working to manage and reduce fecal pollution.

Habitat Strategic Initiative: New studies, planning and project development support, and incentive and education programs are advancing habitat protection, restoration, and resilience.
